Its a very difficult thing. Newsprint, proper newsprint comes on huge rolls and has to be printed via offset web. The paper is too weak to be cut into sheets and pulled through a litho machine. The tensions are too great and it just pulls out of the grip and gams the machine up.

There is a stock called Pop-something that is as close as you'll get to a newsprint stock for litho. It'll come back to me at some point and I'll post the details.

I have done a few jobs at web offset printers. It is possible to find one that will run a simple job on a machine but the problem is that the set-up for a web offset machine is immense and the waste is also huge because it takes a roll to get it running and it generally runs down for a long time too afterwards. So to get just 500 good units they'd probably have printed about 3000 all told.

    • If you talk to a printer or a paper supplier they might recommend the stock I'm talking about. Poplux, or Popstock or something.Horp
