I like the Chick Of The Day thread, for the following reason...
Those images that are conventional, and represent the standard 'view' of what about a woman is sexy hold no interest for me....what I look for and enjoy the most is where a photographer or artist has constructed an image that shows me something new and different about what for me, is something I find one of the most beautiful things ever possible - the female form, naked or clothed, all or just a part of it, women are endlessly beautiful and ultimately fascinating to me, aesthetically or erotically, and both - when someone can create an image of a subject that exposes an aspect or womanness that I was not familiar with, or had not seen in a particular light before, then it arouses and interests me no end - ultimately it is not the girls themselves that we are leering at - it is the vision of of them, the eyes of the image makers that fascinates us, not the purile teenage lustings for explicit pornography that vcr seems so terrified of in himself... All women are beautiful, but not all men (or women) can see it all of the time, and the endless and ancient production of images of female beauty is entirely a part of the business that we are in as designers - it is of communicating a vision of a truth, in a moment, and conveying that across space and time - it could be a furniture catalog or a typeface collection, if the message being conveyed is not exploitative, and of perniciously causing and depicting suffering for the gratification of the end user, then there is no moral infringement on anybody. I don't care if you're offended, that is an accident for which you bear most, if not all, the responsibility, vcr. Women are beautiful, and making pictures of them (all of them) is a fascinating and worthwhile pastime.
