For many years Janne was disaffected. Alienated and lacking certain social skills, he struggled with acute existential problems - such as finding a purpose in his life and drawing meaning out of his circumstances.

His time on QBN, like that of nameless others, led him to develop a sense of identity from his online persona as well as from his relationship with the characters that frequented the website. Over time his sense of "self" was shaken and frustrated by the transient nature of this environment, the fickleness of the characters and the emotional distance he began to experience.

Coupled with the emptiness he felt in his personal life, he underwent an emotional crisis. Or rather, he experienced several, each leading him to explore even more erratic and seemingly unhealthy behaviour patterns.

However, this was in fact a healthy process. It was part of his regeneration. Breaking down his emotional attachments, values, and belief systems in a pique of nihilism so that he may start fresh.

He has re-emerged, now, from the emotional chaos of his life with a greater sense of balance and perspective. It's the tough times that make you, and I'm optimistic for his future.
