  ^ Exactly! There's so much more we could be doing with technology that exists today. Better rail systems and other public transit... Switch to diesel, which is much more efficient and can run on biodiesel. Raise fuel efficiency standards. Americans have just gotten so damn proud of their huge SUVs and they think any kind of conservation measure impinges on their "freedom."
