with the slideshow its good to have controls to allow the user to skip ahead of the pace.
pace and fading timing is essential though as it can set the mood like i said before.
i also think that the size (of photos) has an impact, bigger the better, and how they are presented too. just on a background or white/black/grey border around pic etc. play around and see what looks/works best.flashden.net has slideshow flash files if you want somethng a little different from slideshowpro
