Nairn, about question a), and maybe that's why so many people skipped it, there's really no factor to distinguish social class anymore since it varies in most countries. E.g. Republics do not define social classes (although they're still there) as monarchies do. It's all a mess now, and maybe a better way to define people now is to ask is "in what cultural circle do you deem yourself".
