JOhn McCain in his speech last night -
"You well know I've been called a maverick, someone who marches to the beat of his own drum. Sometimes it's meant as a compliment; sometimes it's not. What it really means is I understand who I work for. I don't work for a party. I don't work for a special interest."The subtext: "Why just this week I caved to every single special interest in my party by picking an anti-abortion, gun loving, oil swilling, fag hating, speaking in tongues jesus worshipper as my running mate - and my friends I just did it by picking someone with a vagina to piss off the other party. Of course, I didn't go with my heartfelt pick, the mavericky jew guy who is my friend, but that just proves how mavericky I am. See, yesterday I caved and now...well now I'm telling you I don't work for a party. Whew, didn't see that coming did you, my friends."
