Same here. I have never sat comfortably under the yoke of authority. I must always know why I am being told to do something. That questioning spirit ultimately led me back to the God of my youth, whom I thought I knew growing up – boy was I wrong. One can know ABOUT God whilst never knowing him personally.
I even find comfort in those areas in which God is yet wreathed in mystery. There is no way we could understand every single thing about a being that is omni—(pick your suffix).
