Applecare is insurance and Insurance is betting.
I bought applecare for my macbook and I think it wasn't really worth it. After 2 years the whole machine is worth one and a half applecare only. What could break? Logic board? Costs the same as applecare and a friend just got one for half. Hard drive? I replaced it and it has its own long warranty. LCD? Half the applecare.
What is likely to happen? Tea spillage, fall, broken LCD, theft, etc - none covered by applecare.
Of course, the whole computer might break after 13 months, all electronics failing due to bad power supply and that's when you need applecare.. But as I said, it is a wager, and statistically, they win.O went off-topic, get your iPod off amazon, it's usually cheaper and without the sales tax. If buying applecare, get it on amazon as well.
But wait until thursday, iPhone is launched and iPods might get a memory boost too.
