i think the level of recognition is commensurate to the overall level of involvement with any given campaign. what i mean to say is you can't expect to receive full credit for executing someone else's vision, regardless of how extraordinary the execution was.
anyone can build a web site, few can build a website exceptionally well, but even fewer can concept, storyboard, script, and produce an entire campaign. without the idea and materials (footage, copywriting, etc.) the site would have never existed. so sure, take the "favorite website award", but leave the cannes for the people truly responsible.
with all that being said, i do think BSS should have at least gotten a nod from BBDO and had their efforts recognized on that level.
at the end of the day though, i could care less about award shows and awards in general. it's one big circle jerk of egos.
