When I had to train some people just outside of Glasgow in Scotland last year. I was based in an office that faced a very high bridge - all of sudden that room was buzzing and lot's of people were pressed up against the window looking at the hovering helicopter. The next thing I heard was "a tenner and he'll be down in five" - I was asked to wager on how fast the jumper would drop! I didn't really know what to say - which must have been obvious to one of the ladies there who told me "oh, you not from around here are you! Well, don't worry this happens almost everyday - in fact the residents under the bridge are constantly complaining about finding bodies in there gardens - despite the netting" a young scottish guy chipped in and starting singing "it's raining men!" Now I thought that was pretty extreme cynicism, but then I was thrown by a young girl who just bluntly said " ooo I love it when things like this happen, it's so exciting - plus we don't have to do any work!"

    • That is seriously fucked. I understand humor/cynicism as a tool for coping, but that's still pretty shitty.blaw
