I personally started out doing a lot of pro bono work that turned into paying gigs. If its something simple that doesn't take a lot of time and is something you can be proud of and use as an example of your work, then it is a wise investment in your future. Would you rather have no work to show for yourself, or work that you did for actual clients in your portfolio? I don't know how much experience you have tank02, but when you show your book, the question always comes up "which of these are personal work and which did you do for actual clients?"....and half the time they aren't interested in your personal work, no matter how good it may be, because it didn't involve outside direction / collaboration. It doesn't show that you are able to take a client's vision and direction and turn it into a viable piece. I feel that a lot of you need to wake up and realize that the world isn't going to bow to your every demand, because if you're waiting for that to happen, you'll wind up broke.

Rybo, it is not the most professional approach to offer a service for free and then all of the sudden decide to charge. Why would someone be interested in something you were willing to give away for free, just moments ago, and now you want them to pay?

That being said, rybo, if you could point me to some examples of your work, I would be interested in seeing it! If the quality is in line with what we are looking for, then we would consider paying, although we were looking at this as an opportunity for someone who's just starting out to showcase their work, if we're going to pay anything at all, then we might as well pay for something we like and is worth it.

    Thanks,
    Dex
