    the vast majority of advertising is lazy idea theft. It's the nature of the beast.

    All a client wants, and 9 times out of 10, all a 'creative' agency wants to provide is product recognition. So advertising rapes all other threads of life to create an connection that gives recognition in the consumer's mind - in this case a pop promo. But it could just as easily be a memorable style of painting or a genre of film that is popular at the time.
