  php is a mature language, made for web and speed, rails is a web 2.0 walking house of bells and whistles made for programmers enjoyment. theres nothing php cant do that ruby can. ruby is slow, pain to deploy, sucks with databases, and still insecure
  so, dont believe the hype. remember java?
