there is actually a serious/fun academic debate in this.
it is an extreme form of empiricism. i.e. you have no reason to not think the world is flat unless you have actually been in space yourself to witness the (possible) rotundity of the earth
we can then ask the question if we took any of the available domains of epistemology and pursued them to the Nth Degree how could we re-interpret the world?
- Um, people figured out the world was round a few millenia before any human got to space..the greeks did it with math..TheBlueOne
