    I'm having second thoughts on it needing to be a compact now... I've already got a Sony DSC-T1 so have a compact (this newer, better spec'd camera would replace it) but I wonder whether I should keep that as a pocket-point-and-shoot and get something that more resembles an SLR...

    If I had a budget of say £200 - £250 what might you recommend then?
