    It truly is. ESPN could have heralded real football into the American mainstream a long time ago, but they chose to back the MLS start up, that was doomed for failure from a ratings standpoint. You cannot and could not simply create a new league, in a sport that is already not "popular" in a country and expect it to succeed.

    If at that point, they did their homework and instead of just going, "Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, let's back this up start American League." We'd have

    Setenta must make an absolute fucking killing over here, especially with the hiked up pub rates. An absolute fucking killing. But I sure hope ESPN's pocketbooks can take it away.

    That is strictly a business standpoint stance of course. Without the MLS, and the coverage it received I do not think American soccer would be where it is right now.

    Which is still without a player who could take up a bench spot on the big four, haha.

    ESPN's HD is amazing too boot (pun intended).
