Sorry for the reaction - it's the exact-same as my Father's was when he reacted to one of his worker's depression, which was borne of never having been depressed himself. He had a wee bout of his own a couple of years later, which reframed his perspective massively, made him regret firing the poor guy, and helping him out.
Adjusting your perspective, thinking about the world view and overcoming your own self-impositions is the height of human endeavour otherwise..
..but it's doing exactly that that can make people feel a little glum about the state of the world.
I know it can for me.
