I'm no lawyer, but I do work at a law firm and have some general knowledge of such things because of marketing pieces I've worked on.
We created a Record Retention Handbook that goes into great detail about how long companies should keep different business records - both hard copies and e-lectronically stored information.
Again, not a lawyer and not an expert, but I'm pretty sure they're screwed and if we're just talking invoices, yeah, we're talking 6 - 8 years tops for holding onto that kind of thing.
