It all comes down to whether you're selling something worth selling, or something that's a waste of time.
designing book for non-profit, DM for art museum, poster for architecture annual...good things to sell.
designing package for smokes, logo for shady mortgage co., website for overpriced clothing...not good things to sell.
It's all very gray and if at the end of the day you just don't enjoy it, head for the hills.
