i think the song is about judgment. i think the characters represent different impressions that we all carry and project onto others.
i think the idea that the city and characters are dates further reinforces the idea that this it an ongling, eternal thing. we all judge and we all will be judged. not by some god but by our peers..
maybe you could elaborate a bit more on you opinions. I am interested.
