the current Venom is actually The Scorpion. Eddie Brock has cancer and in order to pay for his medical he sold the Venom Symbiote to the highest bidder who was Gargan The Scorpion for $10Million.
the Scorpion/Venom is more ruthless and more violent than Eddie Brock/Venom as he has no remorse and kills innocents as easy as he breathes.
in the last issue of Spectactular Spiderman Eddie Brock is in the hospital on his death bead waiting to die from his raging cancer and he finds out that his greatest enemy's family is just in the next room [aunt may & mary-jane] so he had ordered a black nylon spiderman costume and dons the suit and prepares to kill them both and the issue ends...
