Done a couple, to be honest its not that friendly a program to work with.
Have both done it myself and bought a template. While I did learn one or two things from the template, I was realy dissapointed that while the front page looked just like the sshot I was sold, the pages inside the site and some of the other features just didn't work, took me longer to fix the problems with the template I bought than it would have working from my own code.
I think its tough to get it not looking like a zen cart cart, that said, it can be made to look attractive.
I wouldn't pay for a template again. But then i'd also try to disuade a client from using it, at least untill they improve the editability of the program.
