  1. add an opacity animator on the text
  2. turn opacity to 0% in the animator1 drop down
  3. turn smoothness to 0% under the advanced menu of animator1
  4. To animate the write-on, keyframe the Start section from 0% to 100% in the range selector of animate1

  that's it. the animation is purely range selecting through opacity, except there's no smoothing, either on or off - in this case, off to on.
