Well, you are ignoring that the person who sold it to the kid had to got the gun somehow? keep moving up the ladder till you find the responsible.
If you find a mountain in front of you, do you inmediatly assume the planet ends behind it just because you can see it?

You never asked a grown up to buy you porn, beer or cigarretes as a kid? all it takes is to ask to 5 people,
