dont stay down at the shore! its a dodgy walk home from the city centre at night! lol.

stay in the city, but dont go for anywhere on the grassmarket/bread street thats tourist central but is also cheesy bar central and its just drunks wandering about at night. dont stay there if you want to get some sleep. and if you do stay there make sure you get a bedroom at the back.

as for shopping. princes street for high street stores. the road up from analogue books (The west bow) has a few cool shops on it. also Cockburn street (thats pronounced co-burn so you dont embarass yourself).

pubwise, all the best have been reccomended. if you want to go somewhere where the drinks are a bit more expensive and a higher class of pretentios fanny then goto the kandy bar or the opal lounge on george street.

clubwise, glaasgow is a better bet for biiig clubs.
there are a few decent ones in edinburgh though, you gotta know where to look though as the best ones are tucked away. otherwise youl end up at tourist/chav traps like La Monde or Subway or Evolution

tip: dont follow the other tourists, goto a cooler bar like the city cafe etc and ask locals whats on when you are there.
