i think that the dynamics that inform the Black community in the US have a bit to do with the type of jobs most of us pursue.
and relax, i'm NOT speaking of Racism.
but since jobs were hard to come by for Blacks, getting a SENSIBLE/DEPENDABLE job and keeping that motha' 'til you died was the ultimate goal.
since most would-be rap artists and NBA stars will eventually go to work for UPS, it's still the prevailing wisdom.
"Sensible and Artist" don't often make it into the same sentence 'round these parts. but we're workin on that.
