Because she's in London and we NTers look after our own¹?Or more, perhaps, because I was there at the time and thought it highly amusing that you should become so righteously indignant at what was clearly a joke - see, Para (at least as I understood it) was mocking the worst aspects of our culture (tabloid 'papers upwards) that do, to a degree, hold to the polarised effluent that Para spouted. Ergo, 'amusing'.
A question for you, now - how on earth can you not have invested the effort to ply apart what she was saying to comprehend that she could not be telling the truth? That, from where I'm sitting, is one of the worst aspects of American culture - your occasional tendency towards literality.
If you'd been someone I thought less off, I wouldn't've said anything.
