    I'm not saying I'm taking either side, but my first thoughts are this.. Obey's gorilla marketing was extreme, it went up everywhere on anything. That was the point. Around the same time hip hop clothing and old rave flyers were taking name brands and changing letters as a play on words, for example:

    Obey knew it redid some Fuct logos, just like it probably re-created thousands of other brand names and logos. Look up gorilla marketing at wikipedia

    "promotions are sometimes designed so that the target audience is left unaware they have been marketed to and may therefore be a form of undercover marketing (also called stealth marketing)."

    that's the point, he was taking popular brands and manipulating them as a stealth method of putting Obey in your face. So, Obey has original branding and he has ripped gorilla manipulations.. all in the spirit of gorilla marketing. To scream rip on Obey is missing the point all together.
