and this is offtopic-but related to the ny crime discussion. if you have not read malcom gladwell's the tipping point" and you work in advertising/marketin g, definitely worth a read. he devotes a whole chapter to the several small changes which he believes are directly responsible for the dramatic drop in new york's crime (much more so than the drop experienced nation-wide at the time). here's a snippet if anyone's interested: wikisummaries.org/The_...
