When I was a small boy I went to the South of France with my parents. One day my dad decided we should drive to Cannes. Being small I was excited by the prospect of film stars at the film festival, My dad said it was the wrong time of year for the film festival. He was wrong. We saw photographers everywhere, crowds of people and massive billboards. But no stars. Though I remember being impressed by a huge pair of sexy legs that covered the entire frontal length of a hotel to promote the latest Bond film - For your eyes only I think (yes, I'm that old).

So we left Cannes dissappointed at not witnessing any movie stars and drove to a quiet hilltop village called Grasse. Famous for the manufacture of perfumes I think. We parked on a quiet road and all got out of the car for a walk. A solitary man in a white suit at that moment walked past. It took a moment to register that it was in fact Roger Moore. I shouted at my dad that it was James Bond which elicited a sly "moore' smirk. But he ignored us (as anybody would have) and carried on walking up the deserted street. Still, I was a 12 year old boy and I had just been passed in the street by 'the James Bond'. I dined out on that at school for a long time.
