I always chose Winamp over anything (I even purchased the Pro version) but then completely stopped using it after realising that the mp3 encoding is utter shite and flac integration pitiful - not only was there [white?] noise distortion buy ..oddly.. even the playrate changed occasionally - the same song encoded in winamp would be a couple of seconds shorter than anything else! (on electronic music, strangely - which is why it took a while for me to notice). Unable to get to the bottom of this, I begrudgingly switched to bloody Win Media Player, which I must admit ain't bad.
That was about 4 months ago and I'm still having to re-encode old CDs as I listen to them.
Not happy.
