Some years back, my gf (now fiance), herself a fairly devout Catholic, gave me a few books on Taoism, including a softbound book that used comicbook-style narrative to put across stories that illustrate principles of Taoism.
I didn't really open the books until I was hip-deep in a family medical crisis and found myself spending lots of time sitting in a room in an icu.
Reading those books, especially the paperback, gave me a new perspective on life that helped me through those times.
