the disclaimers that are up for half a second during the credits state that certain scenes were "dramatized," telephone conversations were recreated and that plenty of people were actually paid money to participate.
but hey, it's good fun to see him "pull the wool" on "half wits" that are only too happy to see themselves on television and get a little bit of pocket money.
