what fusion said... it's been a while since I did any research on the subject - but yes... you can pass commands via javascript (but you have to hope that users have js turned on... then again - if they don't... they may not have flash going either... so who gives a rats ass and why am I ranting?) :)
google 'flash javascript' or something along those lines - you'll have an answer in minutes.
