The firm that "created" gorillaz? Jamie Hewlett of "tank girl" fame *created* gorillaz in collab with the music stylings of a Mr. Alburn. Zombie Flesh Eaters does the videos, which is also Hewlett's creation.
The stage-projection was not just large LCD's or screens. That was a long time ago and old-school compared to this new stuff, which is simply some laser projection stuff. Different point-of-view from different angles of in the audience.You don't get that with a 2d display.
