Good question man, heres my answer
The Quran forbids depiction of the Prophet because it would lead people to worship a picture, or in this case a person(Mohamed PBUH) instead of God.
Muslims are supposed to try their hardest to live a good life as He did, be a just human being, the little things they emmulate like his beard for instance, or the certain way he prayed are called Sunnah, these things bring you closer to God not to a picture of one of his prophets, you see what im sayin?
