Whenever I become obsessed with somebody or something that subject matter seems to constantly reappear in my life, in a sense dancing in some kind of weird karmic motif that reshapes how I see the world. Today I discovered that Forest Whitaker is now on The Shield, perhaps the best show on TV today, although nobody seems to care about it. Yes, the bald dude seems a bit cartoonish in the previews, but his character is so dynamic and interesting. It's an amazing drama, with great writing and a really innovative documentary style use of cinematography. If you liked Training Day and other stories of police corruption, or if you're consumed with the East LA landscape like I am (this isn't the LA we see in traditional films), and if you agree that Forest Whitaker has the secret that we've all been seeking, I urge you to give it a try. Perhaps rent the first two seasons on DVD too.
