I'm not really sure what exactly you're trying to say, but I have respect for those who have actually made some effort to read the novels before watching the films. There's just so many things inside of the books that you don't see in the movies. And if you read the novels first you will have more of an appreciation for how wonderful they are. Sure, it's borrowed ideas from other literature and things, but what doesn't? Plus most of the world obviously didn't read anything like HP before, and that's why it's so fascinating for them.

That could be said for any movie though. I tried reading Lord of the Rings and it was too tedious and the language was too frustrating for me (the only time I will read stuff like that is for school, which I'm basically doing now...by reading old English). So I just saw the movies without reading the books. I did read The Hobbit in grade 7 though.
