say i have a straight line pattern, like a horizontal border, but need to make it circular.....is there a way to do this without distorting the pattern? am i being silly?

so i made a 70 page pdf from pdfs exported from illustrator, but my multipage pdf is about 70 MBs. even when i do the reduce file size. anybody have any tricks to get this down? has to be a way......
