I bought my first mac book pro last week mainly because i wanted a good looking, reasonably fast and hi-tech laptop.

The only real problem i have had so far with the actual hardware is that i cant have any external hard drives plugged in when im booting because it somehow tries to boot them over the main internal disk. No os on them it just stalls there untill i unplug them.

The main problem is OSX. Here is a list of what makes me want to throw this piece of shit out the window. From the first weeks use.

1. The mouse acceleration curve.
Its like being back in Win 3.11 It moves like its glued to the table and i keep missing buttons and icons.

2. Drag and drop.
I cant drag images from firefox into anything else than desktop folders. I cant drag them into bridge. I cant drag documents from bridge into photoshop.

3. The keyboard
To zoom in windows with icons etc i need to press 2 buttons over vistas 1. All the functions
requiring the alt key pressed like alt-tab. Alt-z etc has me move my thumb in under the left hand to reach the Alt/Option key rather than windows placement where mac has the Command key. What is this for usability making my hand into a claw?

I cant make use of the home/end buttons to mark text. To mark text back and forward in a text box like the url for example i need to let go of the keyboard and reach for the mouse to mark text.

The delete button does not delete in photoshop. The backspace key named delete delete. That backspace/delete key does no longer take me back in windows/browsers. It just deletes. So i dont have any back key, to perform that action i have to press alt/option key and then an arrow key.

4. File operation
Moving a folder on top of another folder with the same name does not merge content. It overwrights. Recipee for disaster. And 1 times out of 5 when i acess ftp or network resources in software, it crashes.

The list goes on and on and i hate to be a fucking whiner but all the criticism on vista
falls flat compared to osx suffering from basic issues that microsoft solved in win98. If someone else there experienced the same problems i have when switching. Can you please give me some pointers or solutions. I feel like somebody robbed me of $3000

Just trying to move around in photoshop and bridge makes me want to kill someone.

Ive been trying to research this on and off for a while but i keep comming up with crap tutorials for layer comps.

What i want to do is compose a smart object of constants in a web site psd comp. Like the header for example, or banner fpo:s etc. Then drag this smart object into multiple psds reflecting multiple states of the website. And when i update the PSB smart object in one of them. It should reflect onto multiple open psds.

Is this doable at all or can i just reflect psb changes to a smart object used multiple times inside ONE psd?

Another photography thread. Couldnt filter out one about space.

Ive been really interested in shooting space for a long time. So tonight i perched myself with the laptop inside and put my canon outside pointed to the stars. I had a lot of trouble finding a suiting lense and even more trouble with correct setting.

Cant really find a proper site for this that doesnt wanna sell me a book rather than show me details. Anyone tried this and could tip me of?

And yeah, im just shooting with the camera + lense right now. No telecopes or anything.

I have done some wordpress customization here and there the past few months. This weekend i took up making myself a portfolio using it more as a cms than a blog tool.

After putting some demo cases in i realized i had no idea how to manually reorder the content? Its sorting ascending and descending by date from what i know.

Anyway i can rearrange the order manually after making all the content posts? And by this i dont mean sort by category or tag. Just manually select the order of wich they appeir in index.

I know i could resort to making pages for them but id rather use posts for this keep pages out of it for now because pages would have me making php edits rather than using wp as it is.
