I think it's pretty obvious that he doesn't really that that Paul Smith himself designed the sweater, but is saying it in a jokingly way.

my point exactly. f404 seems to think it was Paul Smith himself who plucked his work from a bevvy of online copyright materials. where in fact it was some student freelancer, who was being paid by an intern designer, who's never even met Paul Smith.
Kinda pisses all over the fantasy, but it may be the truth. I think in that scenario f404 wouldn't have such a good sense of humour.

thats a fucking ugly sweater, tiresome design too
love the Flight 404 work that little bit was nicked from though

I have just mailed an old friend of mine who used to work with Paul Smith on a daily basis... Interested to know the reaction

I get what you're saying Invalid, but Paul Smith, along with all these other 'labels' should do their homework to make sure the stuff they put out is original. They would be the first to sue, if one of their designs had been ripped...

The man should sue or agree on a settlement if he wants to get some Respect. I mean come on, they did it, they got away with it, they will do it again. Let's not forget before design there is business and figures. I am not sure if it happens again f404 will be dancing again, unless he wants to make a complete fool of himself.

Step 1: Get drunk on martinis and buy a shit-load of dice from Amazon. What a dude!
Flight404 is a total classic! Paul Smith is da man.

While I think it's admirable he's not crying all over the internet, I also think it's a bit weak he appears to be doing nothing to protect his work.

Awesome read and yes, an admirable reaction. My first reaction would be to reach for my phone and dial a lawyer, but he's obviously a chilled out guy. Cheers for Posting! +1

I didn't read the whole thing, but I hope he doesn't think Paul Smith (if that is a real person, I don't know the brand very well) had anything to do with the creative process. It's usually some intern who designs the t-shirt and some random freelancer who does the graphics.
As a student I started out doing t-shirts for a lot of clothing labels and also designed some jeans for people like Marcs, Morrisey and Utech etc.
Point being, I never actually met anyone from those clothing labels; it was always through a third party. They were just buying art work off me.
So if you think of it that way, this guy should be pretty pissed off that some student -freelancer ripped off his work. Not only that; he went and paid $235 for it.
I would've given the folks at Paul Smith a phone call and demanded a new wardrobe for stealing my work.
