can someone shed some light on me here? Forgive my ignorance. It's a bunch of font names set in Helvetica bold on a nice grid, yes it's lovely and looks highly conceptual. But what's the clever part? Also, why the two sides? Does that mean you need to buy 2 and hang them side by side?

I reckon it's a bit more phonetic than simply french...

Thanks everyone for your comment. it's cool to have feedback on the work we do :-)
I think anyway i need to give you some explanation on this project.
First thing is that we wanted to do it because for once we are did something personal and not for a client...
Since we are using thoses fonts every day in our work and trying to use them in a clever way, for once we wanted to make fun of them... This poster is called "grotesque" because trying to translate in french the name of a type is completly stupid... it's a nonsense.
also french people thinking they are more clever than the other, we could have done that. And we did it.. ;-)
So we wanted to make fun of the type and of ourselves.Trying to explain it in english but not sure I made it... :-)
