for the long run: i keep 1 computer with old system and all the software plus peripherals for each generation. like the umax clone and zipdrive or g3 and bunch of cds, etc. because pure data would become widely unaccessible. sounds maybe bulky but regarding the amount of work it's not much stuff. the alternative way would demand conversion of tons of files - i'm not up to spend time on this.
