yeah that poster is perfect. hope the movie holds up!
- perfect because the hobbits are bigger than humans?monospaced

The look way more cartoonish than my imagination. At least the hobbits in the first movies looked more real, but these are borderline muppets.
- There isn't a hobbit on that poster.Sep
- Oh. Are those the dwarves?monospaced
- Yup.Sep
- they look like fucking muppetsmonospaced

It's gonna be 24 fps 2D version for me.
Apparently 48 fps 3D is kind of weird looking, like watching a tv show on a boat during a storm.

WTF. Don't over analyse it. Of course it's going to be good. Just go and see it!

It's starting to get some shitty reviews.

I'll obviously be going to see it and I'm particularly keen to see what 48 fps looks like outside of gaming...
Can't abide Martin Freeman though - he was great in The Office, where his lumpy grey face and two acting shades shone with appropriate grim fluorescence, but he's a sould sucking flub in everything else he's been in.
A bit like a wet patch on otherwise clean sheets.
- imho, obviously - I'm sure he's a nice enough fella in real life.detritus
- he was fab as watson.jtb26
- Even the bad reviews say he was good in this.CygnusZero4
- Have you seen Sherlock?DRIFTMONKEY
- Yup. Not a fan.detritus

looks like a Disney film for all the family.
I hope iam wrong.
- i_monk0
Have you read it? It's more nursery rhyme than novel.
- CygnusZero40
I never read it. I know a lot of schools had kids read it but mine never did and I never got around to it after that. LOTR seemed a bit more mature, and from the trailers with those goofy dwarves and from some of the reviews it definitely sounds like more of a kids movie.
Ive now seen 3 reviews saying its closer to harry potter and narnia than LOTR.
- it looks like how I remember it when I was 7 years oldmonospaced

leave the hobbit alone!
- randommail0
Well, Ian McKellen did call it a "kid's movie" during his appearance on The Colbert Report.

re: the poster above
The 2nd guy in the top row looks so out of place.

just saw it - 48fps takrs a while to get used - but then the drama is lovely - the superprine lenses Jackson used in collaboration with the 48fps makes the super sharp digital look even more extreme...
its fine- but at some points they look badly comped on to a green screen set - doesn't detract from the drame
OMG the battle scenes are fuckin amazing!
