  depends on what you are shooting..

  i ahve the 24-70 L and its awesome.. heavy but awesome..
  then a few months back i got the 16-35 L and its kind of stolen the spotlight from the 24-70 for me.. both as its lighter, but also wider.. which is nice..

  they both make awesome pictures..

  I use them on a 7d..

  I did try them out on my friends 5D a few weeks back and the 24-70 all of a sudden became much more range friendly..
  and the 16-35 was even more awesome.. but would probably slide back into second place for day to day favorite..
