I'm going to be the lame-o that comes in and says the book is way better than the movie. Obviously it always is.
Everyone I know that's read it agrees that it is a page turner. I wish I didn't see the movie (watched it the day I finished the book) until I finished reading the whole series. The characters I made up in my head are clashing with the actors in the movie.
Aside from the detail that's lost when compressing it into the movie I feel the characters were too clean, polished, and teeny bopper for my tastes. I think a lot more could have been done in this aspect to show more desperation. They felt a lot more sterile than the twilight movie characters.
