Customizing an iPad is a bit of an absurd idea. Once this iPad gets connected to a client's computer and synced, all preloaded content is wiped out. iPads are not made for this.

I spent a few hours changing flights at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport last month. There is a nice 'Amsterdam Museum' place there, basically a few comfy couches with a fake fireplace and a few bookshelves on history, design and stuff. There were also iPads framed in some sort of steel frames covering the sides and home buttons. Some iPads were jammed in settings view, most of them were running a shitty custom city history app. Each had a sticker on them saying: "Please do not try to connect to the internet, iPads get stuck in settings screen when you try that" or something like that.

This was such an UX failure... They should've just given people internet on this (there was free wifi anyway) and leave links to museum website on dashboard. The whole failed 'iPad customising' operation must have cost tens of thousand of taxpayer Euro.

    • Sticker said actually: "We're working on issue that ipad gets stuck if someone tries getting online"raf
    • for comparison, our company built a bag-building app/ui/ux and it was successfully in an environmentmonospaced
    • was that on an iPad? was home button disabled?raf
