I quit smoking a little over 7 years ago. This was after being a heavy smoker for 7 years. I still miss it from time to time, although most days I don't think about it. The hardest part is changing the way you think about yourself. To think of yourself as a non-smoker, rather than an ex-smoker, and to come to grips with the fact that you'll never, ever, ever smoke again. If you can do that, you'll be fine. Watch out, though: every few months/years you'll think you've kicked it for good and then all of a sudden you get a craving. That's tough. Be ready for it.

I'd definitely say you should start exercising and learning about nutrition. When you're bored, make your self some healthy food, or go for a run or a swim or bang your lover or something healthy.
