I think it is absolutely awful. I detest the overused effects and the way it is just trying to be a mish-mash of the roman-greek epic films.
If special effects are going to look forced I don't think they should be used. The 'slow-mo blood shots' that are overkilled in this look awful. Someone up high has pretty obviously loved it in 300, where it is done well, and insisted it be used in almost every scene.
I have only watched the first 2 episodes and I found it cringeworthy.
